IE Business School held its 4th Annual Doctoral Consortium on May 19, 2017. As a sign of the continued growth that it has experienced since its inception, the Doctoral Consortium featured 9 focused tracks, including Operations, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Creativity/Cognition, Entrepreneurship, HR, OB, and Strategy. In addition, for the first time, travel grants were offered, which attracted the interest of a more internationally diverse set of doctoral students. The day began with a plenary session hosted by keynote speaker Prof. Erkko Autio of Imperial College, London, followed by the roundtable presentations in the various tracks. The day closedwith a Panel Discussion themed “Grabbing Research Funding Opportunities”, including discussions from Professors Caterina Moschieri, Cristina Cruz, Kriti Jain, Luis Diestre, and Erkko Autio, moderated by Marco Tombetta.
The student organizing committee for the Consortium comprised Sreyaa Guha (Marketing) and Maude Praca (Entrepreneurship).
IE Business School hosted its 3rd Annual Doctoral Consortium on April 22nd, 2016. The Consortium began with a greeting by Professor Salvador Carmona. Following this, doctoralstudents proceeded to the roundtable presentations separated into 7 parallel tracks consistingof Operations (Chair: Prof. Daniel Corsten), OB (Chair: Prof. Kriti Jain), HR (Chair: Prof. MonikaHamori), Entrepreneurship (Chair: Prof. Rachida Justo), Strategy (Chair: Prof. MartinaMontauti), Marketing (Chair: Prof. Antonios Stamatogiannakis), and Accounting (Chair: Prof.Ronny Hofmann). The Consortium closed with a plenary discussion titled “Publication in Top Academic Journals: A Panel Discussion with Journal Editors” including Professors Tara Wernsing, Mahmoud Ezzamel, and Fabrizio Salvador and moderated by Professor Mikko Ketokivi.
The student organizing committee for the Consortium comprised Polina Landgraf (Marketing) and Joseph Thomas (Accounting) and Raffaele Morandi Stagni (Strategy).
The 2nd IE Doctoral Consortium was organized on 24th April 2015. This event promised to build upon last year’s consortium – and it did – in terms of the depth of dialogue, number of parallel tracks and enthusiasm of participating PhD and DBA students. The Consortium started with welcoming words from Professor Marco Trombetta, Vice-Dean of Research, IE Business School, following which Professor Gautam Ray, Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota, USA, addressed the audience. Thereafter, 28 doctoral students shared their research across 8 parallel tracks. These sessions were: Marketing and Media (Chair: Prof. Laura Illia); Decision Making (Chair: Prof. Matthias Seifert); Strategy (Chair: Prof. Caterina Moschieri); Organization Design (Chair: Prof. Mikko Ketokivi); Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Chair: Prof Onal Vural); Corporate Finances and Investment (Chair: Prof. Mahmoud Ezzamel), Behavioral Operations (Chair: Prof. Fabrizio Salvador) and Social Responsibility/ Sustainable Performance (Chair: Prof. Daniel Blake). These thought-provoking sessions were, then, summarized in a discussion moderated by Prof. Matthias Tietz, IE Business School. The day ended with closing remarks by Professor Julio de Castro, Director of PhD Program, IE Business School.

On 4th April 2014, IE Business School organized its 1st Doctoral Consortium – marking the start of a stimulating intellectual platform for PhD and DBA students at IE and other top business schools. The consortium began with a warm welcome from Professor Marco Trombetta, followed by the plenary session on ‘Making it into Academia: Challenges and Opportunities’ addressed by Professor Mahmoud Ezzamel, IE Business School. Thereafter, students shared their research papers in five parallel tracks focusing on Entrepreneurship (Chair: Professor Rachida Justo), Diversity and Culture (Chair: Professor Tara Wernsing), Risk (Chair: Professor Alvaro Arenas), Innovation (Chair: Professor Luis Diestre) and CSR and Behavioral Issues (Chair: Professor Antti Tenhiala). The day ended with Professor Matthias Tietz, IE Business School, sharing his perspective in the plenary session “Personal reflections on myths, truths, and secrets about the academic job market”.
